Umpiring
Parkville Umpiring Pathway
Parkville Netball Competitions has an intensive umpire development program providing an excellent pathway and support network, taking an umpire from the novice to the experienced.
The levels of the umpiring pathway are Beginner Umpire, National C Badge, National B Badge, National A Badge, National AA Badge and International Umpiring Award.
Parkville is always looking to increase its umpire panel. Interested umpires are encouraged to contact us at info@parkville.netballvic.com.au.
Parkville Netball Umpire Development Program
To assist in the development of our beginner umpires at the club level, the Parkville Umpire Development Program has been created to provide junior umpires with targeted coaching, development opportunities, and ongoing support - beyond what is typically offered as part of the standard setup.
The aim of the program is to:
-
increase in the number and quality of umpires moving from entry-level to officiating Open games during the week and achieving their C Badge
-
Create a visible and aspirational development pathway for emerging umpires within the Parkville community
The program will run in 4-week blocks on Saturdays, across two timeslots and 3 designated courts.
Clubs are invited to nominate umpires to participate in this program if they deem their umpire to meet the selection criteria outlined in the Umpire Development Program Outline Document.
Parkville Netball Mentor Development Program
The Parkville Mentor Development Program (PMD) has been established to provide experienced umpires—specifically those holding a C or B Badge—with the opportunity to grow as Umpire Mentors and Coaches, while supporting the next generation of officials.
This program works alongside the Parkville Umpire Development Program (PUD), with mentors playing a key role in providing focused coaching, developmental feedback, and on-court support to beginner umpires.
The aim of the program is to:
-
Offer identified C and B Badged umpires a structured mentoring opportunity
-
Enhance the quality and consistency of umpire development at Parkville
-
Build a stronger network of confident and capable mentors
-
Contribute to an increase in umpire badge progression, particularly at the beginner level
Mentors involved in the PMD will receive guidance on effective feedback delivery, coaching techniques, and how to support umpires through their early development phases from a Lead Umpire Mentor.
This program not only benefits beginner umpires—it also helps develop future umpire coaches and assessors, strengthening the officiating pathway at Parkville from the ground up.
Umpires are invited to apply to participate in this program via the Mentor Development Program Outline Document.
