Parkville Representative Program

Parkville Netball Representative Team Eligibility

Parkville Netball operates under the Victorian Netball Association and as such, is recognised and approved as an affiliated association, eligible to compete at Association Championships under the Parkville Netball Representative Program.

The Parkville Netball Representative Team Program commenced in 2008 to provide an opportunity for players who are members of clubs that play exclusively at Parkville Netball (Selection Policy). The program has a proud history of developing players who have progressed through the Netball Victoria pathway, including Talent Academy and the Victorian Netball League.

To ensure clarity, this eligibility statement will also be included in the Association Championship Handbook moving forward.

We are thrilled to announce that Jenna Astwood and John Phung will be coaching the 17&Under Parkville Representative Teams for the 2026 season!

Jenna Astwood brings over 15 years of coaching experience, specializing in player development and team management. A former Super League player for Northern Thunder and an England representative from 2005 to 2011, Jenna transitioned to coaching after moving to Australia. She has since coached at Melbourne University, Penleigh Essendon Grammar School, Overnewton Anglican Community College, and Essendon Netball Club. Jenna is passionate about growing netball at all levels, with a strong focus on community outreach.

John comes to the Parkville program for the first time in 2026. He is a structured and athlete-focused coach who emphasises building strong foundational skills across all key areas of netball. With coaching experience across U15, U17, and Premier divisions, he takes a methodical approach that progresses from individual skill development to tactical game understanding, supporting athletes to recognise their role within team systems. John is a current mid-court player for Western Firebolts in the M-League Open Men’s Division 1 Premiership-winning team, bringing valuable high-level playing insight. With Jenna and John at the helm, we are excited to see what the 2026 season brings for our 17&Under team. Their shared vision and proven leadership will no doubt inspire the players to achieve new heights.

15&Under - Lauren Gilcrist & Chloe Scott

We are thrilled to announce that Lauren Gilcrist and Chloe Scott will be coaching the 15&Under Parkville Representative Teams for the 2026 season!

Lauren is entering her ninth year with the Parkville Representative Program in 2026 and is eager to continue her involvement. Having spent the last eight years as a Parkville Rep coach, she has found it to be a rewarding experience, taking pride in her contributions to the program's strength both on and off the court, particularly in fostering a positive culture and building friendships.

A talented player, Lauren is a former VNL athlete with over 400 games played in the Ballarat Football Netball League. As a seasoned coach, she has experience leading representative teams from 11&U to 15&U. Utilizing her background as a PE teacher and Interschool Sports Manager, she excels at connecting with players, encouraging them, and creating a supportive team environment. In 2024, she successfully led the 13&U team to a Runners Up finish at the Central West Association Championships, qualifying them for Finals Day.

Chloe, who began coaching with the Parkville Netball Representative Program in 2022 after aging out of junior representative programs, has quickly gained experience as both a coach and umpire. In 2024, she took on the 13&U Development team and assisted Lauren with the 13&U Open team, with both squads finishing in the top two at the Central West Association Championships.

Chloe's diverse background in umpiring and coaching across various age groups (11&U to 17&U) has equipped her with a unique skill set, allowing her to effectively engage with players of different ages. As she enters her third year with the program, Chloe is excited to face the challenges of coaching the 15&U team alongside Lauren.

Together, they are committed to creating an engaging and competitive environment that nurtures young talent and strengthens team camaraderie within the Parkville Representative Program.

13&Under - Anna Sweeney, Sarah Daglish & Millie Scott (Assistant coach)

We are thrilled to announce that Anna Sweeney and Emma Rutkis will reunite for their third year of collaboration, leading the 17&Under Parkville Representative Team for the 2026 season!

Anna Sweeney has been an integral part of the Parkville Rep program since 2019, coaching across various age groups, including the successful 15&Under teams over the past two years. Under Anna’s leadership, the 15&Under team achieved Runners-Up in consecutive Finals Days in both 2023 and 2024, highlighting her dedication to fostering individual and team success. Anna's core philosophy—"A team is only as strong as its weakest link"—guides her mission to develop each athlete's skills and knowledge, ensuring a well-rounded and cohesive team effort.

Millie is a passionate and experienced coach and former Parkville Representative player who now supports the program as Assistant Coach alongside Anna and Sarah. She brings extensive experience across representative, club, school, and community netball, including coaching roles with the JIKA region, Melbourne University, Penleigh Essendon Grammar School, and Overnewton Anglican Community College, alongside her role as Director and Head Coach of Astwood Netball. Millie also brings elite playing experience from Oldham County, Manchester Thunder in the UK Super League, England Netball (2005–2011), and the West Coast Fever training squad. Her coaching philosophy focuses on creating a positive, high-energy, and supportive environment that prioritises individual athlete development, strong relationships, and clear communication, helping athletes build confidence, accountability, and strong fundamental skills.

We’re confident that, under Anna and Sarah's leadership, alongside Millie's Rep Program experience, the 13&Under teams will continue to grow and excel in the upcoming season!
